Maths: Mathletics Awards!

In Room 7 we use a site called Mathletics. It is similar to Maths-Whizz, except our teacher can control what activities we do. The activities that we complete, we get a certain amount of points. If I get 1000 points I get a bronze certificate.

1000 points in a week = 1 bronze certificate.

5 bronze certificates = 1 silver certificate.

4 silver certificates = 1 gold certificate.

So far I have 6 bronze certificates and 1 silver certificate. My goal is to get more than 1 gold certificate by the end of this year.

My goal this morning in Maths was to... read and identify decimal and fractions. To change fractions to decimal and vise versa and to simplify fractions by finding the lowest common factor. Today, in my Prototec Test I got 39 out of 40, in 3 minutes and 21 seconds. 

My Goal: My Goal for my next Prototec Test is to get 40 out of 40, in under 3 minutes.

My Maths - Prototec Test Results
Today, I challenged myself to do a test on prototec and to see how much I get correct and incorrect. I was proud of myself because I got 100% in the test in 5 minutes and 49 seconds, without using paper or calculator.

Maths - Prototec {Holiday Blogging}

Today I worked on my 9x Times Tables, on a website called, Kids Numbers.com.
I got 181 correct in under 3 minutes and 2 incorrect.

Goal: Next time I will try to reach 200 in under 3 minutes.

During this week, Mrs Tui sent us links of different Maths Sites. I decided to choose the site, Maths is Fun because, this site had a lot of addition and subtraction worksheets.

Testing Reflection

Today was the end of our testing week and we finally received our Maths and Reading results. I have to say, my results weren't what I was expecting. For Maths, I got 4 which is low average and is also really low for a Year 8 student. To improve this, I will try and learn my time tables and to add and subtract with place value. My reading results weren't exactly the same as the year before, I got an average which I didn't expect. This year, for my reading I will try to read more and to understand questions that have been given. My goals for both of these subjects is to go well above this position.

Last week we filmed a video of our maths group Crafty Circles doing a film of how to use the clever machine that we have been using for a long time this machine is very clever because it knows the number that we a thinking of in our heads.

Maths Reflection

What I have learnt this week in Maths is my division. I thought it was gonna be really hard but the first time I tried it, it was really easy.I learn a lot my Maths equations from a website called Maths Whizz and Xtra Maths, both of them are really fun but hard sometimes. In Xtra Maths there is addition, subtraction, time tables and division  I am still on addition and I am almost on my subtraction, I am so excited to move on. 
My maths group is Crafty Circles and I am doing well at the moment and I am getting really fast at knowing my strategies.  For Addition and Subtraction I am on Stage 4.
