2016 Diary {Holiday Blogging}

Friday 29th of April 2016.
Based on: What book I read & What I did today.
Upcoming Post: Narrative Writing - The Great Well of Amsterdam.

What Book did I read?
Today, I finally finished reading my Duffy Book, 'Making Bombs for Hitler'. If I would have to rate this book, I would probably give it a 9/10. 'Making Bombs for Hitler', was a very interesting and a book that I would want to read over and over. I then, moved on to reading the second book of the Hunger Games. I finished the first book a while ago, and found it very splendid. The name for the second book is 'Hunger Games Catching Fire'.
What did I do today?
Well today... my little brothers and I attended our big church rehearsal for Sunday. It was pretty nerve wrecking having to read four readings all by heart. I am just really relieved that, that was done and I'm definitely not looking forward for Sunday.

What am I looking forward to?
Right now, I am looking forward to going back to school, because I really miss being around kids my age and having to see them everyday. I am also looking forward to finishing the second book of the 'Hunger Games'.

Narrative - The Great Well of Amsterdam {Holiday Blogging}

This is my Narrative Plan, for my next Narrative that I will be posting soon. It's about a boy named Augustus, his best friend Ruby and his single mother. One day, they finally get the opportunity to go down to the 'Great Well of Amsterdam' and wish. What they don't know is someone is stealing the money and they think the wishing well does not grant wishes.

2016 Diary {Holiday Blogging}

Tuesday 26th of March 2016
Based on: Where I spent my day & What I did.

Today I spent almost my whole day, going out. Well.... the first thing my family did, was head down to Botany to do some shopping. Just about 2 and a half hours after we did our shopping we returned back home and waited until it struck 4 o'clock.
Once it hit 4, we headed off to church because we had something called 'Fakame Practise'. I actually enjoyed going today, because Faleaka and most of my friends from church actually turned up for practise.
This practically what I did today!
Posting Tomorrow: My Maths

Narrative - Adrian's Birthday Party {Holiday Blogging}

“Build it right there”, I exclaimed, happily.

Today was my best friends birthday, Adrian. Adrian wanted a small party, but I had no clue why he wanted it at my house. I am so excited to see my friends from school today, Sophie, Adam and especially Adrian.

‘Knock, Knock’. I scampered so quickly towards the door, just like a mouse finding cheese. “Hi Nicole”. It was Sophie. “Has anybody arrived yet?”, she asked. “No, not at all”, I said, “I actually told them to come half an hour late so we could set up everything”, I added. Sophie gave me one of those ‘Well, I had no idea that was planned’, look. “You need to check this out”, I bursted.

Sophie & I walked down the hallway to bedroom, I had to tell her what we were planning, especially because she’s the only girl invited to this party, apart from me. I walked Sophie to my closet. “What are you showing me”, Sophie asked, confusingly. I gave Sophie a ‘you’ll see’ look.

“Well, I asked my dad to build a door in my closet, so when we play hide and seek, I’ll tell Adrian to hide in my closet”, I said. “He will fall through the door, and see all these stains on the floor and he’ll think that we hid... What!, bodies in there”, I added, while bursting out laughing.
“Will he fall-”, ‘Knock, Knock’, the knock on the door interrupted Sophie.
“Close my closet, I have to get the door”, I asked politely.

“I’m coming”, I shouted, down the hallway. “Adrian!!!!!!”, I screamed. “Hey Nicole”, he replied, warmingly. “Happy Birthday, Big Boy”, I told him. Adrian & I have been best friends since, kindergarten.

“Sophie, it’s Adrian”. Sophie came running down the hallway, shouting ‘Happy Birthday!!!!’. A few minutes later, someone was knocking on the door again. “It’s probably Adam”, Sophie mumbled. “Hey Adam, come on in”, I greeted. Adam walked in and hugged Adrian, which lead all of us into a tight group hug.

“Why don’t we get the party started”, my dad interrupted. Adrian’s parents, Sophie’s mother, Adam’s parents and mine were all at the party. Just like Adrian wanted, a small party.

I planned that the parents all go down to the room, down in my closet, while the kids play ‘Hide n Seek’. “Okay, while our parents are setting up we can play a fast game of Hide n Seek”, I suggested. “Okay, that’ll be a fun way to start”, Sophie winked. I always thought of Sophie as my own sister.

“The rules are, we can only hide in my room”, I said, making sure everyone heard me. I got out of the room, while everybody was hiding. I wasn’t actually going to find them, it was part of the plan to come down to the room where the party is being held, while the hiders find their way there. Sophie could help them, since I already showed her the way to Adrian’s secret birthday party.

I led my way to where the party was taking place. “It’s looking good”, I told the parents. While my father was building the little hallway to the birthday party room, I made sure that he built a little ramp so I could stand there and make sure that Sophie was leading them the right way.

“Aaaaaah”, I could hear a scream, a boy scream. I’m not sure what a boy scream is suppose sound like, but it sounded unusual. I could hear Adrian freaking out about what he was looking at. “Why was there a secret door behind her closet?, Why had it just opened? And what could possibly be down the steps?”, Adrian panicked.

“Adrian, Adam it’s fine, follow me”, Sophie said, while calming Adam and Adrian down. I’m pretty sure, that Adrian & Adam thought that Sophie was out of her mind. I could finally see all three of their shadows coming down the ramp.

I stepped back slowly, leading myself into the room, making sure that Adam especially Adrian wouldn’t see me. “Just stand here”, Sophie told them. I turned on the lights and we all popped up shouting ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADRIAN’.

Adrian and Adam looked very confused. I walked towards both of them with Sophie, about to tell them what we were planning the whole time. “Why didn’t you come to find us”, Adam said, upsettingly. “Well, my dad built a door in my closet so that you and Adrian would fall in and so Sophie could lead you guys to the birthday party”. I told both of them. “Well it worked”, Adam & Adrian said.

Before the birthday ended, Sophie, Adam, Adrian & I gathered together outside and had another group hug, before they all left. It was so tight I nearly blacked out. Sophie and Adam left with both their parents, while Adrian and his parents stayed to help us clean up.

“Thanks for letting me throw my birthday party at your house, Best Friend”, Adrian exclaimed. “I’m just glad you had a great time, Best Friend”. We both hugged again, very tightly. I haven’t had a hug from Adrian in so long. “See you in school”, I shouted across the room, while he was leaving.

The next day, Adrian, Sophie, Adam & I hung out the whole entire day at school. That day we couldn’t stop talking about how epic Adrian’s party was. It felt very good to have the most bestest and truthful friends around me. “I love you guys”,  I told them.

The Jungle Book {Holiday Blogging}

Today, I went to the movies to watch the new movie, The Jungle Book.
This movie was about a boy named, Mowgli, who was raised up with a pack of wolves. Mowgli was threatened to be killed by a dangerous tiger, Shere Khan. So, Mowgli decided to leave the pack and find somewhere else to stay. Mowgli, somehow was trapped in a snakes territory, when a bear rescued him and took him to his cave. Mowgli and the bear became really good friends, but the bear told Mowgli that they couldn't be friends anymore.

Mowgli had a special talent of climbing trees, until he used it and was taken by a pack of monkeys.
The bear and his special tiger friend, tried so hard to get Mowgli back, but couldn't.
Somewhere in the end, Mowgli killed the threatening tiger and went back to the wolves who raised him.

Some Pictures from the cartoon, but I watched the real life movie.

Mowgli & Baloo the bear.
Mowgli & Bagheera (the one who brought him to the pack)

Writing {Holiday Blogging}

“11 billion years”, I bursted

Today, I watched something about the Earth’s History. It was about how the earth started and how countries were made and how the first humans were on earth. Before everything was made, such like, the land, trees, animals etc. Earth was frozen for about 11 billion years.

Things that I’ve learnt from what I watched.
  • Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun.
  • Before trees were common, the earth was covered with giant mushrooms.
  • Earth was frozen for 11 billion years.
  • Before countries were formed, everything was stuck together, until an earthquake happened.
  • Theories are that, earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago.
  • If the Sun were the size of a beach ball in Space, then Jupiter would be the size of a golf ball and the Earth would be as small as a pea.
  • If the earth didn't have the moon, our days would only be 6 hours long.

It was really interesting, finding out how the earth was formed and finding out a lot of facts.

A Boring Day {Narrative Writing} {Holiday Blogging}

Day by day, hour by hour. “Tick Tock, Tick Tock”, goes the clock. Just sitting there listening to cars passing by, sirens going off. How boring can my life get?

All of a sudden, I found myself in the middle of a strange, hair-rising, bizarre forest.

While walking through the dark, mysterious forest,
I could hear my name being called out several times. It got louder and louder & louder and louder. When!!!, suddenly I realized I was daydreaming and that I was still stuck in my dull household.

As I was about to fall asleep, I could hear my mum’s voice echoing down the hallway. “I have an ocean full of dishes for you to clean”. I tried to ignore her, she called again and again, and that’s when I knew I had to get up before she turns into a dragon.

Seeing the ocean full of dishes made me a bit anxious & even drowsy. While washing the dishes, I found myself in the middle of a peculiar beach, sitting and staring at the ocean.

“Look at the mess you have made, the water is going to overflow”, a voice explained. The same voice was calling my name several times (again!). Suddenly!!!!! I felt like someone was shaking me. The shake was going on for a while, I suddenly clicked. I was daydreaming again (see! my life is sooooooo boring!). “Wash the dishes now”, she yelled. I instantly washed the dishes, so I could leave. I finally left my mother’s territory and departed myself to my monotonous room.

“What a boring weekend”, I cried. Now I know the secret of having fun, just imagine.

Letter - Derek Munson {Holiday Blogging}

Dear Mr. Munson,

My name is Rosrine, I currently live in New Zealand, I am 12 years of age and go to St Pius X Catholic School, in Glen Innes.

I am writing this letter, to tell you my thoughts on your book, Enemy Pie.

Well... firstly, I actually found your book so interesting, but not only did I find it interesting I actually found it odd.
I found your book really interesting because, I never expected this boy’s enemy to move into his neighbourhood and not only did they just play together, they suddenly became friends.
I found this book also very odd because, in the book you never explained how they became enemies and how they even met each other.

I especially loved the little twist at the end. These were all my thoughts on your book, Enemy Pie.

All my Respect & Adoration.
Rosrine

Storyline Online - Enemy Pie

Today I read a book called “Enemy Pie”, and was chosen off Storyline Online, and was by, Derek Munson.
This book was about a boy, who almost thought that it was the perfect summer, until.... His enemy, Jeremy Ross moved into the house down the road and became his #1 neighborhood enemy. So one day, the boy told his father, that his enemy just moved into the neighborhood, and his father requested that he goes and plays with Jeremy Ross, while he makes an enemy pie. After the boy played with Jeremy Ross, he brought him over to have some “Pie”, but little did they know it was just a normal pie.

Story Online - Catching the Moon {Holiday Blogging}

Book Title: Catching the Moon
Author: Crystal Hubbard
Illustrator: Randy DuBurke

Today I decided to choose a story on Story Online called
"Catching the Moon". This story was about a young girl named "Marcenia Lyle", who loved Baseball. One night her Granddad walked into her bedroom and asked her how her baseball game went. She replied happily and told him that her team won. Marcenia's Granddad then said, "Only if you didn't rip your dress". It made her feel as it he was shattering her dreams of being a baseball player. The next day, there was a special guest who came over to ask the baseball team, if they wanted to join a baseball camp. "I don't allow girls in my camp, but you're a fast runner", the guest told Marcenia. She then got handed these special Baseball Shoes that made her day quite better than the rest. Marcenia returned back home to her father and told him what happened on that day, she was still disappointed that she wasn't allowed into the camp.
I think this was a very special book, because the author is telling so many girls around the world, that we are capable of anything. I would definitely recommend this book for my Best Friends, Alecia & Sammy.

Last day of Term 1

Friday 15th of April 2016

Today was the last day of Term 1. It was quite an amazing way to end off Term 1. We had Athletics and I have to say, it was the most breathtaking Athletics that I have ever competed in, during my life in St Pius. Indeed I enjoyed running with such good competitors and also enjoyed being around such wonderful company. I am not saying that I am not proud of anyone else, but I am indeed proud of myself because my whole 7 years in St Pius, I have only placed 1st or 2nd Place, in Athletics, which is an achievement I will treasure, and take onto college. Our class also received our first Duffy Books of Term 1 2016.
